Obituary of John Patrick Mazzitelli
John (Jack) Patrick Mazzitelli, A life filled with friends, loved ones, and - most importantly - golf, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, John (Jack) Patrick Mazzitelli, in the early hours of March 25th. He passed away peacefully in his sleep, beside his loving partner, Susana, in the home they shared.
Born on September 17th, 1944, in Bovey, Minnesota, he was the loving son of John James and Yvonne Kathleen (Kitty) Mazzitelli. Jack often credited his northern Minnesota roots for his toughness and resilience. He went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a 4.0 GPA before earning his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1970.
A lifelong learner and an energetic soul, Jack never let anything slow him down. He could still be seen practicing his golf swing, regardless of his complications from pulmonary fibrosis, refusing to stop living his life. Jack cherished time with his sons, family and partner Susana, always radiating warmth and humor (okay, maybe not all the time but we still loved him all the same). He never met a stranger, only friends he hadn't spoken to yet.
He is survived by his siblings, Patricia (Patty) Skordahl (Carl), Michael (Mikey) Mazzitelli (Nancy), James (Jimmy) Mazzitelli, and Loni Flaherty, his two loving and handsome sons, John (Jordan) and grandson Luca, and Michael Mazzitelli, his partner Susana Robinson, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be a private family funeral. A celebration of life will be April 11th from 4 to 6pm at Brookview Golf Course in the Bassett Creek Room. Memorials can be directed to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
