John Steven McBride Jr.

John McBride Jr., (Bubba) a beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away
peacefully at the age of 38 on September 12th, surrounded by his family and VA medical
personnel.
He was born on Nov. 18th, 1985, in McAlester, OK.
After high school, John decided to 'make the call' and joined the military in 2004 but was
honorably separated due to unforeseen medical circumstances in 2005.
On March 2nd, 2007, he married his wife, Marlo Pratt-McBride. Shortly thereafter, in
August 2007, they welcomed their first child, Mariyah. Mariyah was his little princess. He
proudly showed her off everywhere they went, and she certainly had him wrapped
around her little finger. Three and a half years later, they welcomed their second child,
Nathanyeal, to the world, who was genuinely also his pride and joy. To John, his family
was now complete!
Cooking was his passion, so he attended college to fulfill his dream of becoming a
culinary chef, not only to do what he loved, but to also provide for his family.
Everyone who had the opportunity to know John knew he had a heart of gold and would
give his last, even if that meant he went without. John enjoyed being outside, spending
time with his children, family, and friends. He loved all genres of music but was a huge
Jelly Roll fan! At any given time, you could catch John dancing, singing, and being his
"goofy" self to put a smile on other people's faces.
He was preceded in death by his biological father, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and
cousins. He is survived by his wife, Marlo, their 2 children, Mariyah and Nate, his mother,
Debra, his dad, BJ, his in-laws, James and Marlene, his grandmother, Pauline, his
brothers Matt (spouse Crystal), Josh, and Preston, his sister, Myratia, a close friend and
her son, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Although his life was cut short, he will remain forever in the hearts of his family, friends
and all those who were honored to have had the privilege of knowing him.
His ashes will be laid to rest at the Fort Sill National cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma on
October 4 th, 2024.
