"When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure."
John Anthony 'Tony' McCambridge passed from this life on Sunday, October 13, 2024 after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth M. Creamer Walker and Richard Walker.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Janis Ann McDonald McCambridge; his children: Douglas McCambridge (Mary), Michelle McCambridge (Ken) and Greg McCambridge (Adela); granddaughters: Alyssa Lehman (Alan), Kelsey Rangel, Megan Verce (Landon), Madison McCambridge (Taylor), Kiana McKee, and Maria Solorzano; great-grandchildren; Garek Lehman, Bellamy Lehman and Hadley Verce and two nieces.
John was a 2nd generation Colorado native, born in Sterling, Colorado in 1933.
He graduated from St Joseph's High School in Denver in 1950 and went on to obtain a Chemistry degree from Regis College, graduating in 1955. He married Janis McDonald on June 4, 1955, and was quickly drafted into the army (1956-57) where he and Janis spent a year in Italy. He received an MBA from the University of Denver in June of 1964.
John was an industrial chemist by trade, but his greatest achievement was his family. He was a quiet soul and the epitome of kindness, intelligence, and generosity. His love and dedication to his family was always an unwavering top priority for him.
John and Janis enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S., visiting all 50 states, in addition to a few European, Canadian and Caribbean destinations.
The footprint he left on so many lives is immense and the void he left, monumental. We are so grateful for having him in our lives, sharing his knowledge, life lessons and dry sense of humor with us.
He was, and still is, such a treasure.
Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
