In loving memory of John Joseph McClafferty of Somerville, MA.
Born on April 15, 1943, in Medford, MA, John was the beloved son of Ruth and James McClafferty.
A proud veteran, John honorably served during the Vietnam War.
Following his service, he met his beloved wife Dorothy (Ozard) and started a family, having three children. He had a successful career as a Regional Sales Manager for Cambridge Valve and fitting.
In his personal life, John was known for his love of golf, carpentry, and the great outdoors, often kayaking and hiking to immerse himself in nature.
He was an active and cherished member of the Audubon Environmental Society and a longtime member of the Bellevue Golf Club, where he made many lifelong friendships.
John is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, his daughter Christine, and his two sons, John and
Donald. He is a proud grandfather to Kelly and Amanda, whom he loved dearly. He also leaves behind his brother Stephen McClafferty and his sister Gail Foley, and many nieces and nephews.
John will be remembered as a very intelligent, caring and wise man of which many people sought advice from. He was known for his sharp wit and dry humor. More then anything, he was a man with an unwavering dedication to his beloved wife and family.
His legacy of love, kindness, and respect for people and the world around him will live on in the hearts of all who
knew him.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 8:30AM-10:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose at 11:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
