Michael Shawn McClafferty, 52, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Born on August 18, 1973, Michael was the beloved son of the late Neil McClafferty IV and Christine McClafferty of Bellingham. He was the devoted father of Devyn Rieger of Blackstone; cherished brother of Neil J. McClafferty V and his sister, Tracy MacNeil, and her husband Rick MacNeil, both of Bellingham; and the love of his life, Chantel Marie Gallant of Franklin. He also leaves behind two adored grandchildren, Caden and Caleigh, who brought immense joy to his life.
Michael grew up in Bellingham and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for four years. His passion for food and hospitality led him to a lifelong career as a chef and restaurant professional, most recently serving as General Manager at the Medway Café.
A man of many talents, Michael was an avid hockey and baseball player, a gifted songwriter, and a talented photographer and artist. He was also the creative mind behind his own clothing line and even directed his own movie - a true reflection of his originality and fearless spirit.
He will be remembered for his creativity, humor, and the deep love he shared with his family and friends. Michael leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends whose lives he touched with his generous heart and passion for life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Medway Café, 74 Main Street, Medway, MA. All are welcome.
Burial with military honors will be private.
The Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. is honored to assist the McClafferty family. Guestbook www.franklinfuneral.com

We´ll never forget all the memories we made together - the laughs, the late nights, the talks, and how you always believed in us no matter what. You weren´t just our manager, you were family. You taught us so much and gave us so many moments we´ll carry with us forever. Thank you for everything you did for the three of us. We love you more than words can say.

Mrs McClafferty, Neil, Tracy and all of Michael´s loved ones whom I have not had the pleasure to meet- my heartfelt condolences. It´s been a long time since I have seen Michael. I have some very fond memories of witnessing his hilarity from afar. I think he was in about fourth grade and he put on a break dancing performance for the staff and students of Stall Brook Elementary. In about 1990 I walked outside to see a crowd gathered around the McClafferty´s conversion van. He had Thunderstruck blaring and he was dancing around the van lip synching, playing air guitar... He went ape and it was hysterical! That same year he walked around the school shirtless, with tiny shorts on and his face painted as the Ultimate Warrior. I share these stories to highlight something I admired about Michael. He always seemed to want to make people smile, even when he had to put himself out there. What a great attribute in a human being! Rest easy Michael. Peace and love to his family and friends,
Jake
