John Thomas McCollum, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Wellstar Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
John was born on April 14, 1952, in Reidsville, North Carolina. He was a retired machinist with American Tobacco Company/B&W, a current chairman of the board with American Partners Credit Union in North Carolina, former assistant chief, and Chairman of the board of directors for Monroeton Fire Department in Reidsville, NC, member of the Anderson Masonic Lodge # 243 and member of the Johnson County Young Farmers Association. John loved tending to his land, farm, and cattle. It was his little heaven. He was preceded in death by two sons, Matthew and Mark McCollum, his parents, Paul Thomas McCollum, Sr. and Elizabeth James Brown, his brother, Paul Thomas McCollum, Jr. and his former wife, Patricia "Pat" McCollum.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Sands (Daryl) and children, Rachel (Chase) Ore and Kenan Bolden; his daughter, Tonya McCollum and children, Gage McCollum and Bella McCollum; his son, Eric McCollum; and his son Alex McCollum (Cydney) and children, Paisley McCollum, Layton McCollum and Maddox McCollum; two siblings, Ronald McCollum and Linda McCollum of Reidsville, NC; brother-in-law, Jeffery Smith, his loving dog, Yeti and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville, NC. Burial will immediately follow the service at Evergreen Memory Gardens.
The family will also receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville, North Carolina, and other times at the home of his daughter Jennifer Sands (2071 Ashley Loop Rd, Reidsville, Nc) Starting Monday November 25, 2024.
