John Robert McCoy, 83, of Sulphur, LA passed away on September 19, 2024, in a local care facility. John was born on October 15, 1940, to David and Alma McCoy in Whistler, AL. John worked as a pipefitter in the construction industry for Olin and Turner Industries as a lifelong career. He was very active in his working years and helped many people that needed someone to lend a hand. He enjoyed being busy and loved to fish in his younger days. John proudly served his country serving in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War in the United States Army.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Robert Scott McCoy,
Gerald Wayne McCoy, and John Patrick McCoy; siblings, CM Kelly, Peggy Meche and Kathleen Stoker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alma and David McCoy and siblings, Maxine Kelly, David McCoy, Douglas Kelly, and Elsie Wormack.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Burial will be at Big Woods Cemetery. Pastor Shawn Dugas will officiate services.
