John Edward McDaniel, age 68, passed away in the comfort of his home on January 28, 2026.
Though he considered himself a true citizen of Mobile, he came from a military family so John was able to live all across the world. John’s skill set and careers ranged far and wide working as a master mechanic for Harley Davidson, a manager for TA Travel Services and earned both his private and commercial pilot licenses. John was a passionate Florida Gators fan, a lover of Pink Floyd, and adored his constant companion of 11 years, his dog, Schultzie. John was also a member of Woodridge Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama. He will be deeply missed by all of the people whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Mary Frances McDaniel. His father served in the armed forces and retired from the U.S. Air Force where he was a veteran in both the Korean War and World War II. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 19 years, Lisa McDaniel; daughters, Rilie (Kenny) Cooper and Rena (Ted) Barker; grandson, Easton Davis; siblings, Sandra (Joe) Causby, Brenda Fugate, and Roger McDaniel; his faithful friend, Schultzie; other relatives and many friends.
The family wishes to extend their immense gratitude to all of the caregivers of Gentiva Hospice who walked hand in hand with the family making this transition so peaceful.
Services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
