John Robert McDowell, 57, passed away on October 2, 2025, in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
Born on December 7, 1967, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, John was the beloved son of Nita McDowell
and the late Garnet McDowell. He shared a close bond with his brother, Tony McDowell, and
sister-in-law, Michele McDowell. He was a cherished uncle to his nieces: Courtney Stone,
Whitley McDowell, Alyssa and husband Aydan Schultz, and Tanaya McDowell. He also held a
special place in his heart for his great-nieces and great-nephews: Alayla, Roslynn, and Maxton
Henry, Kolton Schultz, and Luca Murillo.
John was known for his quick wit and sense of humor that could light up any room. His devotion
to family was evident in every aspect of his life. He found deep fulfillment in supporting his
nieces throughout their lives-whether cheering them on at events or simply being present
when they needed him most. His unwavering support was a constant source of strength and
love.
In his youth, John enjoyed playing baseball-a reflection of his energetic spirit and love for
teamwork. As he grew older, he continued to embrace life's simple pleasures. He was an avid
fan of OU football and found peace in the outdoors through fishing and hunting. These hobbies
were more than just pastimes; they were meaningful ways for him to connect with nature and
those around him.
John's legacy is one of laughter shared among loved ones, memories built through quiet
moments and joyful gatherings, and steadfast dedication to family. His presence will be deeply
missed by all who knew him.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him..
