John Henry McGee

Mr. John Henry McGee, 83, resident of Archdale, died February 14, 2026 at his home.

He was born April 15, 1942 in Orange County, NC, a son to Homer E. and Madge Holland McGee. A resident of Archdale over 35 years, John spent his entire career working in the furniture industry as an upholsterer, first with Oak Ridge Manufacturing and later with Miles Tavern. Following retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing with his family members, watching NASCAR, grilling his ribeye steaks (his favorite), and especially working in his produce garden.

On June 29, 1991, he married the former Jane Kirby, who survives of the residence. Also surviving is his son, James Darren McGee (Tonja) of High Rock Lake; his sister, Naomi Shores of State Road; two grandchildren, Holly Calhoun (Bobby) of Lexington and Heather McGee (Joe) of Denton; three great grandchildren, Ryleigh Wilson, Leland Calhoun and Joshua Taylor; a niece, Gabby Honeycutt (Steve) of New London; and his special dog, Riley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Pastor Jose Vazquez officiating. Entombment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum in Greensboro. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
