Frances S. McGee, 96

Frances S. McGee, age 96 of Simpsonville, Ky., passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, at the Norton Pavilion Hosparus Center. She was a native of Shelby County and spent the majority of her life in Simpsonville. Frances was a member of Simpsonville Christian Church. Frances was an independent woman who enjoyed a fulfilling career, first as a bookkeeper with Pearce Motor Company in Shelbyville, and later as a laboratory technician for the University of Louisville Chemistry Department. When not working, she took great pride in her home and her yard, keeping them in immaculate condition. She had a green thumb and loved nurturing flowers and plants, both indoors and outdoors. Frances especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. McGee was preceded in death by her husband, John Zebe Nethery; a daughter, Valinda Fowler; her parents, Artis and Ruby Shelburne; and her brothers, Garnett, Kenneth and Johnny Shelburne.
Mrs. McGee is survived by her children, Beverly Klayer (David) of Shelbyville and John Nethery (Sharon) of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, A.J. Shelburne (Sylvia) of Taylorsville, Ky.; two sisters, Wanda Chesser of Willisburg, Ky. and Jane Helton of Fern Creek, Ky.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at the Simpsonville Christian Church with Pastor Jim Baughman officiating. Burial will follow in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.. until the funeral hour on Wednesday Feb. 18, 2026, at the Simpsonville Christian Church.
