John Corbitt McLemore, 76, of Fort Wayne, passed away on August 23, 2025, at Parkview Randallia.

He was born on October 9, 1948, in Hazard, KY, to the late Biram and Lenora (Francis) McLemore. He spent the first part of his formative years in Hazard before moving to Fort Wayne, and graduated from South Side High School.

After graduating from South Side High School, John embarked on a lifelong career in service. He served the community at Coney Island and then American Hoist before retiring from Tool Craft as a dedicated Machinist. John was known for his precision and commitment to quality, values that he brought to every aspect of his life.

In his leisure, John was a passionate Ham Radio Operator with the call sign KD9LQ. He found joy and connection in this hobby, reaching out to a world beyond his own through the airwaves. A committed member of the Masonic Lodge for 25 years, he was also a member of the Scottish Rite. His contributions to the community, both through work and voluntary service, will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Connie (Khris Southerland) Robinson; his stepchildren, Dale (Lisa) Ricketts and Belinda (Steve) Bullers; his brother, Denver McLemore; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Burcham; two brothers, Mitchel and Frank McLemore.

A memorial service will take place on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Huntertown Chapel. Calling hours will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the Family C/O Sheets & Childs Funeral Home.

I worked with John for about 10 years at Toolcraft. John was always considerate and friendly to everyone. He helped me with jobs that we were working on together and when he retired, he even gave me one of his tools that I still use to this day.
Godspeed John, you will be missed.
