John Anthony Meade

John Anthony Meade, of Burke VA, passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2026. Born on October 15, 1940, he was a loving and devoted husband of 63 years to Betty Meade and father to Michelle, Willie, and Randy. He often said his marriage to Betty was one of his proudest accomplishments.
John graduated from Seaholm High School in Birmingham MI and received a technical degree in drafting, from Detroit College of Applied Science. Out of college, he worked for General Motors, Fisher Body Division, working on the design team for seat belts. John moved his family to Northern Virginia in the early 70's and worked for the Navy Dept of Defense as an Engineer on the Machinery Arrangements team for the Seawolf Class of submarines. He absolutely loved his work and encouraged his children to work doing what they love.
Being competitive, John was an advanced bridge player, often playing on teams at work and in retirement. He loved football and coached his sons' teams for BRYC and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. John also enjoyed music, all genres from classical to rock n roll. He loved listening to his favorite tunes with his wife while watching the sun set over the bay at their Ocean City condo. His love of music will continue to echo in our hearts in remembrance.
Survived by his wife Betty, daughter Michelle, and son Randy (Crystal), brother Phil (Kim) and sister Margaret Garrison (Brian Schell), as well as 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his father John P Meade, mother Martha H Meade, brother William T Meade and son William M Meade.
