John Mikle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Emmanuel Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Trail Creek on Aug. 11, 2023.
John Ray Mikle, fondly known as "Big G" or the "Gentle Giant," gracefully took his final bow on August 7, 2023, in Michigan City, Indiana. Born on a winter's day, December 23, 1976, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Eula Mae Carter-Pam and John Henry Mikle, his life was a symphony of love, laughter, and unity.
Big G's legacy lives on in his children, Reginald "Reggie" Stalling, Octavia "Tay" Stalling, Sonja Smith, Dontarius Johnson, Angel Hollins, John Mikle Jr. "Lil G," and Geraldon Mikle "G-Money." His siblings, Fannie Mae (Charles) Cooper, Chantel Pam-Tolbert, Lloyd "DP" Pam, Antowne "400" Pam, Elizabeth "Missy" Mikle, Freddie "Fred" Smith, and Areatha "Tasha" Gartha-Smith, remember him with love and joy. His nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended community family, including his homies Alvin Woods, Jason Johnson, Dontae "Tae" Ray, Damion Kussart, and Jerome "Rome" Harrison, remember his kindness and generosity.
Big G's mother, Eula Mae Carter-Pam; his cousins, Collin "Boss" Small Jr. and Timothy "Salt" Small; and his nephews, Justin Garner and Jett Goldsby, had preceded him in the journey beyond.
John, our beloved Big G, was a man of knowledge and wisdom. He attended Rogers High School and earned his GED, proving that determination can overcome any obstacle. He was an entrepreneur, creating opportunities wherever he went. His heart was as big as his dreams, and his love for his family was his greatest achievement.
Big G loved life and lived it to the fullest. On December 6th, he shared, "Don't Gain the World & Lose Your Soul, Wisdom is Better Than Silver or Gold." "Love the Life you Live. Live the Life you Love." "The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively." -Bob Marley. These words encapsulate the essence of Big G's life philosophy.
Big G was the go-to person when you needed an ear, a hand, or some love. He was a man of action, always ready to lend a hand without expecting anything in return. His love for music, cooking, reading, and crafting was only surpassed by his love for his family. On February 1, 2023, he said, "To my family, I love y'all. We gotta stay focused and together... all pride and personal issues to the side... because it's not about us... so let's get it together... we're a team and there's no I in team. Love."
John "Big G" Mikle was a man of many talents, but his handiness stood out. He could fix anything, and his hands created magic, whether on a grill, a musical instrument, or a piece of wood. He was a man of integrity, who touched the lives of those around him positively.
In the symphony of life, Big G was a powerful bass, providing a strong foundation for others to build upon. His life was a testament to love, unity, and positivity. As we bid him farewell, we remember his laughter, his wisdom, and his love for his family. His melody will forever resonate in our hearts. Rest in peace, Big G, the Gentle Giant. Your legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.

John, gave me my first born child, something no other human could of done. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter named Sonja. He loved her an our grandchildren sooo much. So many people were blessed to have this man in their life.
Just last year John and I took our grandchildren to Michigan City Zoo, the beach and lunch. I never forget our time together
