John Miller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory - Bartlesville on Dec. 31, 2025.
John Wallace Miller, born January 1, 1939, passed away on December 28, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer-a fight he had already won once ten years earlier.

John was born on a farm in Smithville, Missouri, to John Sidney Miller and Della Miller, the youngest of four boys. Growing up on the farm shaped his strong work ethic, his grit, and his deep appreciation for simple, honest living.

John married Brenda Fay Cox, and together they welcomed two children, Mark Wayne Miller and Connie Lea Miller Mattix, whom he loved with unwavering devotion.

He began his career in the mailroom at Phillips 66 (now ConocoPhillips) in Kansas City, Missouri. His dedication and steady leadership led to a transfer to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where he eventually became the Supervisor of Data Entry. After 40 years of loyal service, John retired-though he never stopped building relationships and sharing stories from his decades with the company.

During his years in Bartlesville, John met the woman who would become his loving wife, Louetta Shaw Barkley. Through their marriage, he gained three bonus sons-Barry Barkley (and his late wife Donna), Kevin Barkley, and Kyle Barkley (and wife Sylvia). John embraced them wholeheartedly, proud to be part of their lives.

He was blessed with seven grandchildren: Corey Barkley, Samuel Barkley, Brittney Peacock Zink, Levi Barkley, Kyla Barkley Cutter, Rece Barkley, and Jace Barkley. He also cherished his many nieces and nephews, each one holding a special place in his heart.

John lived life fully and with joy. He was an avid hunter-quail, deer, and even elk once-often heading out with close friends for early mornings and long stories. He loved camping with Louetta, especially when fishing or trotlining was involved. And if you ever sat across from him at a domino table, you knew he played to win.

He leaves behind his wife Louetta Miller; his children Mark Miller and Connie Miller Mattix; and his bonus sons Barry, Kevin, and Kyle Barkley, his brothers Harold Miller, Donald Miller, and Marvin Miller; along with their families.

One of John's greatest pleasures was his morning breakfast at Weeze's, where he formed countless lifelong friendships. Those mornings were a highlight of his days-good food, good company, and plenty of laughter.

John was a man of candor, class, and quiet strength. He will be forever loved and deeply missed by all who knew him.

For those wishing to honor his memory, donations may be made to OCS Cares Fund for cancer assistance.

John and I started to work for phillips at the same time. I enjoyed working with him for a number of years. We both ended up in Bartlesville, but at that time I was in a different department. He will be missed.
