John Wesley Milum, 56, of Breeden, West Virginia, departed this life November 7th, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. John was born November 6th, 1969, in Columbus Ohio. John was the son of Bill R. Milum and Naomi (Chick) Finley Milum.
John Leaves behind his wife Pamela Milum and two daughters, Marisa (Jacob) Copley, and Mandi Milum, along with a new grandson Ezra John Copley. He also leaves behind very special in-laws, Alton and Patricia May.
John was a 1988 graduate of Williamson High School. He was a member of the 1988 Williamson Wolfpack state championship basketball team. In 1988 He recieved Best All Around Athlete in three sports, Best All Around Baseball Player, and The Tony Gentile 110% Award. He was also inducted into the WIlliamson Athletic Hall of Fame.
He was a former Mingo County Deputy Sheriff, where he started the Shop with a Cop Program. John was also a former West Virginia State Trooper, where he received the Trooper of the Year award in 2002. John was employed as an Electrician at Coronado Coal, until his diagnosis of cancer in 2023.
John was a member of Marrowbone Freewill Baptist (The Red Church), where he enjoyed singing and fellowship.
In addition to his wife and daughters, John is survived by his siblings: Larry (Beverly) Thompson, Janice (Kenny) Bowens, Geri (Ron) Sanger, Troy (Gretta) Milum, Billie Jo (Danny Jo West) Milum, and Jason (Lee Ann) Milum. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Amy Caldwell, Kristy Pauley, Marc Sanger, Jennifer Ousley, Brandon Bowens, Alishia Kirk, Allyson Hager, Jasie Turner, Blake West, Paul Milum Jr., Ethan Milum, Mia Milum, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday November 8th at 6:00pm, followed by a funeral on Sunday, November 9th at 12:00 noon at Marrowbone Freewill Baptist located at 144 Left Fork of Marrowbone Creek, Kermit, West Virginia. Burial will follow at the May Road Cemetery at his home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, KY.
