John Moander Obituary
John was born Dec. 17, 1947, in Keokuk, the son of Herbert and Leota (Struble) Moander.
He was a 1966 graduate of Keokuk High School and went on to attend SE Iowa Community College.
On July 3, 2005, John was united in marriage with Kathleen Routh in Branson, Missouri.
For 27 years, he owned and operated Associated Tool Makers in Keokuk. He was a member of the Masonic Temple and the El Kahir Shrine.
John enjoyed nature, watching animals and birds at his feeders, and fishing; he even tied his own flies. He was a big "foodie" and loved to cook. John wintered in Southern Texas. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and spending time with them. Everyone enjoyed listening to him talk and tell stories. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathy Routh of Marion; children: Christopher (Jessica) Moander of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Adam Moander of Perryville, Missouri, Aaron (Becky) Moander of Carthage, Illinois, Matthew (Mallory) Moander of Keokuk, Rachel (Stephen) Moander of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mark Moander of Keokuk, Quincy Routh of Iowa City, Abbie (Jim) Otten of Brentwood, California, and Nikki (Jason) Brandon of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren: Olivia, Zoey, Memphis, Ainsley, Maddie, and (twins) Emma and Eliza; brother Al (Nancy) Moander of Florida; and sister Martha Moander Reuter of Keokuk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son Ethan Moander.
A Celebration of Life will be from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023, with a remembrance and special toast at 2 p.m. at Keokuk Yacht Club located at 2029 River Road, Keokuk.
Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

I remember John from a class at SCC in Keokuk and Burlington Iowa! I thought very highly of him and considered him a friend! I was very saddened to learn of his passing! John and I spent a lot of hours exploring the creek that ran between our houses when we were in grade school. He helped me change a motor in an old Pontiac when we were in college. Will certainly miss him and his sense of humor.

I will always remember John as the kind, helpful, fun-loving friend.
Now, John, you can fish with Bruce in the BIG trout stream. You will never lose a fish there! The Master Fisherman will guide you to the right spot.
