John Modl Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Informed Choice Funeral & Cremation Alternatives - West Allis on Feb. 1, 2025.
John Patrick Modl of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Albuquerque New Mexico passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025. John was a strong fighter and fought many health battles over the years. John was born February 15, 1948, to Joseph and Helen Modl (nee McElroy). He was the youngest of three boys. John's dad passed away when John was 10 years old. Just over four years later, John's middle brother, Richard, passed away and a few years after that, his mom passed away. John lived with and was raised by his oldest brother, Thomas, and his wife, Marie. Tom and Marie were growing their family, so John's bond with his niece and nephews were more like siblings. If you ask them now, they'll say Uncle Johnny was like a brother to me.
John graduated from Messmer High School. Johnny eventually got into car sales and that's where his life took him. He had two children, Lisa and Richard, in Milwaukee, before eventually deciding to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He spent many years in Albuquerque and had one daughter there, Beckie. For a while, he spent some time again living in Milwaukee before eventually staying put in Albuquerque. He always came home to Milwaukee for Christmas with family.
In October of 2018, he moved back to Milwaukee for good. The last 6 plus years that he was home; he was nothing but supportive of his family. Always trying to go out of his way and help anyway he could, no matter what he was going through. His help at crucial times will never be forgotten. John will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. I'll end this with something John would sometimes ask, "red or green?" If ya know, ya know. LOL.
John is survived by his children; Lisa Modl, Richard Modl and Rebecca Tachick. His grandchildren; Ashley Modl, Kayla Modl, Joshua Modl, Benjamin Modl, and Mathew Modl. His great-grandchildren; Nova Modl, Michael Trevino, Kobe Brooks and Eliahna Brooks. His niece Sharon (Modl) Smith and nephews; Patrick Modl, Thomas Modl, Michael (Peggy) Modl, James Modl, and Joseph (Ruth) Modl. John is further survived by other family and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Modl; brothers Richard and Thomas Modl; nephew Robert Modl, and sister-in-law Marie Modl.
