John Mooney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John F Givnish Funeral Home - Academy Rd on Feb. 26, 2026.
John Patrick Mooney, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully in his own home, with his wife by his side holding his hand, on February 23, 2026. He was 74 years old.

John served his country and community proudly as member of the United States Marine Corps and as a Philadelphia firefighter. Outside of his uniform, John was an equally dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

John's life was defined by his actions. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone who needed it are the qualities that will be most remembered by those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beth Mooney.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Amy Drennen, and his children: Kimmy (Ed) Clampffer and their children, Eddie Jr. and Katie; John (Courtney) Mooney and their children, Sienna, John Jr., and Jameson; and his stepson, John Rogalski Jr. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Karen) Mooney and their children, Sharon Loglisci and Joey Mooney; his sister, Anne (Michael) Ferraro and their son, Mike Ferraro; and his sister, Kay (Robert) Cusick.

Relatives, friends, and brother/sisters in service are invited to attend John's Life Celebration on March 21, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sharkey's Grill and Ale House located at 7401 State Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19136.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers, a nonprofit providing housing support to the families of first responders and military veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
