John L. Moore III entered into rest peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at York North Skilled Nursing and Rehab.
Born April 5, 1946 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late John L. Moore Jr. and Betty J. (Walker) Moore.
John was also preceded in death by his twin son Michael C. Moore and daughter Heather L. Moore, and one sister.
Mr. Moore was the husband of the late Mona (Holtzapple) Moore.
John is survived by three children: daughter Johnna M. (Moore) Ferry and husband Doug of Dover, PA, son John L. Moore IV and wife Jaime of Newville, PA, and daughter Rebecca (Moore) Feliciano and husband Angel of Dover, PA; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, four sisters, one brother-in-law, and countless nieces and nephews.
John is a US National Guard Veteran. He was an active fire fighter for York New Salem Station 8 for several years. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts of America where he held several positions and earned the Order of the Arrow. John was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors and spending time as part owner of Fairfield 8 Hunting Camp close to Raystown Lake.
John was a truck driver with several companies until his retirement. He also owned and operated his own lawn mowing company, Colonial Lawns. As well as a jockey for Lazer Spot. John's final employment was with E&B Transportation as a school van driver for students.
Memorial service will be held at Friendship Community Church, 3380 Fox Run Rd. Dover, PA on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11am. Officiating will be Pastor Ben Sorbello.
Memorial contributions can be made to Friendship Community Church. In memo write "Building Fund."
