John Moralez Obituary

In Loving Memory of Toney "Monkey" Moralez.
Delta, CO--Toney Moralez, affectionately known as "Monk" or Monkey" by those closest to him, was a man rooted in faith, family, friends, and the simple joys of life. Born John Toney Moralez to Johnny and Marla (Merryman) Moralez on July 9, 1979, Toney was a proud product of his hometown and a 1998 graduate of Delta High School.
Toney built a life defined by hard work and devotion to his loved ones. Family, friendship, and competition were at the center of his world. He found joy in simple moments and lifelong passions-playing pool, fast pitch and slow pitch softball, rollerblading, cornhole, golf, disc golf, and wrestling. Some of his most cherished times were spent floating the river with family or gathering with friends. As a loyal sports fan, Toney found happiness in cheering on his beloved Washington Redskins/Commanders and New York Mets, even when they weren't at their best, which was most of the time. He was rooted in togetherness and in making memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Toney carried the values of commitment and perseverance throughout his life. He dedicated over 25 years of service to City Market, earning respect not only for his work ethic but for the steady, dependable man he was.
Toney was a loving father and is survived by his two children, Landon and Autumn Moralez. They were his greatest pride. They have his resilience and will continue to carry on his legacy. He is also survived and deeply cherished by his mother, Marla Moralez; his sisters, Nicki Boyd (Eric, Jalen, and Janae) and Stephanie Moralez/Loveland (Rob, Keagan, and Jack); his grandparents, Glen and Marianne Merryman; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who were blessed by his presence.
He is welcomed home and reunited in peace with his father, Johnny Moralez, and his grandparents, Virginia Merryman and Joe and Jessie Moralez.
"Monkey" wasn't just a nickname-it was a symbol of the laughter, lighthearted spirit, and unforgettable personality Toney brought into every space he occupied. Although his absence leaves a deep ache, his legacy lives on through the stories of his competitive spirit and unrelenting strength, the bond of family and friends he held so dear, and in the smiles his memory brings.
To honor Toney and commemorate his life, the family will be holding a Celebration of Life ceremony in the Spring of 2026.
He will be remembered always, missed beyond measure, and loved forever.
