John Ollie Morris, 86, passed away on January 11, 2026, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, Georgia, after a battle with illness. Born on February 1, 1939, in Herkimer, New York, John's life was a testament to his analytical mind and his unwavering commitment to his Christian values.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice Fay Dumond, and his cherished son, Robert Sterling Morris. He is survived by his son, John Ollie Morris, Jr., of Fayetteville, Ga., who is married to Jackie; his sister, Patricia White of Maryland; his brother, Douglas Morris of Virginia; his grandchildren, John O. III (married to Katrina), Joshua S, and Anastasia B.; his step-grandchildren, Melanie D. Moody Vickery (married to Brandon) and Megan T. Moody; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. John's two cats, Buffy and Inky, were also a source of joy and companionship.
John's academic achievements were highlighted by his MBA and Master's in Mechanical Engineering, which paved the way for a distinguished career. He retired as an Engineer for the Marine Corp Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia, where his contributions were invaluable.
He found pleasure in reading science fiction, keeping up with current events, and enjoying the adventures of Xena Warrior Princess and laughing heartily at Puss in Boots.
A man of faith, John was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and a supporter of many Christian charities. John will be remembered for the strength of his character and the depth of his convictions. John has now entered into eternal rest, and we take solace in the knowledge that he is at peace with his Creator.
