Mr. John F. Murphy

John F. Murphy of Reading passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Care One in Wilmington. He was 78 years of age. Born on June 17, 1938 in Arlington, John was the loving son of the late Francis Murphy and Josephine (O'Rourke) Murphy. John was a warm and caring son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, cousin and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. John was a graduate of Arlington High School in the class of 1956. He was a tremendous track star during High School. A career Military man, John valiantly served in the United States Army. He was in a lifelong military family and very active in the National Guard. John was the beloved husband of the late Lisa (McGovern) Murphy. He was previously married to Pat (Leonard) Hoyt and Pam (Sheehan) Willis. John was the devoted father of Lynda D'Angelo and Michael Murphy and his wife Denise. The cherished grandfather of Janine Lapierre and her husband Keith, Timothy and Matthew D'Angelo, Kelleigh Geraghty and her husband Tom and their grandpup Stella, Brittani and Taylor Murphy, he was the doting great grandfather of Camryn Lapierre. John was the dear brother of the late Robert O'Rourke and the loving cousin of Eleanor Ronayne and her husband Arthur. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Wednesday, March 8th from 4-8pm with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:30 in the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING. Parking attendants and ramped entrance are available.
