John Naile

John Irvin Naile, 97, of Cleveland, passed away Dec. 5, 2022, at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury. Born Oct. 22, 1925, in Rowan County, He was the son of the late Oscar White Naile and Allie Ervin Naile. He was a graduate of Cleveland High School. He was a 20 year Veteran the United States Navy, serving during WWII was discharged and reenlisted after ten years and made a career of the Navy. He made a round the world cruise on the nuclear -powered cruiser, U.S.S. Long Beach. After the Navy, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He loved farming, raising cows, and raising a large garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Naile in 2007. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, John H. Naile (Karen) of Cleveland, Dan Nail (Brenda) of Salisbury; grandchildren, Amy Bennett (Jason Smith), Eric Nail (Anne), John K. Nail (fiancé Jaclyn), Brad Naile (Michelle), Jason (Laura), Adam (Jessica), Scott Ervin (Wendy); and great-grandchildren, Klay, Matt Smith, Beatrice and Georgia Nail, Brittany Ervin, Will Naile, Aubrey Naile, Zeke Naile, Jonathan Naile, Caleb Naile and Emily Naile. Arrangements: A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum with Pastor Mark McCracken of Ebeneezer United Methodist Church officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum. The family would like to especially thank the doctor's and staff at the North Carolina Veterans Home for their excellent and tender loving care that was given to “Pappy” while he was there.
