John Nease Obituary

Dr. John Russell Nease, DVM
John was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 1, 1946, to Russell Nease, Jr. and Eulalia Ruth Schmidt Nease. He died on March 9, 2022 due to complications of Parkinson's Disease. He graduated from Scecina Memorial High School in Indianapolis in 1964 and Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1970. John married Janet Ellen Miller in 1968 and practiced veterinary medicine in Indianapolis and New Palestine, Indiana from 1970 to 1978. The family moved to Ocala, Florida in 1978, and he owned and practiced at Ocala Veterinary Hospital Until 1990. At that time, he began his second career of teaching. He taught Science and Social Studies at Grace Episcopal School and started the Science Department at Trinity Catholic High School in 2000. He taught anatomy and physiology at Trinity Catholic for many years. He also coached basketball at Grace and Little League baseball.
John and Janet raised five children and many foster children. He loved teaching and enjoyed golf and fishing. He also played the guitar and loved John Denver. He acted in several plays at the Ocala Civic Theatre.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet, and his children, Heather Smith (Clarence), Carey Nease (Pamela), Jeremy Nease (Erica), Anne Bromert (Mike) and Michael Nease. He is survived also by his sister Theresa Pickhardt (David), and thirteen grandchildren, Lauren, Alyssa, Joseph, Walker, Justin, Matthew, Adison, Courtney, Alex, Chase, Logan, CJ, Carter, and one great grandchild, Bentley.
John is a long time member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala and his memorial mass will be Saturday, March 19th, 2022, 10:00 am at the church. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, an animal shelter, the Ocala Civic Theatre or Blessed Trinity Uganda.
