John O'Keefe, age 45 years, was called from labor and laid down his working tools on Thursday, April 13th, 2023.
John was born January 6th, 1978, the youngest son of Donald and Jean
O'Keefe. He had an older sister, Gail, and an older brother, Paul. For
the first two years of his life, John lived with his family in the town of
Gerrards Cross, London. He and his family moved for one year to San
Juan, Puerto Rico, and then moved to Fairport, NY where he spent 11
years growing up. Growing up, John loved playing cello, basketball,
football and video games.
Moving to Florida in 1993, John received his bachelor's degree with an
emphasis in philosophy from Stetson University in 2007. He then
received a master's degree in social work and political science at Florida
State University. John continued to perform his cello throughout the
Tallahassee Community.
John was a dedicated Mason and was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge, Hiram Masonic Lodge, Tallahassee York Rite, Marzuq Shrine, & Scottish Rite Valley of Tallahassee. John loved freemasonry and spent a considerable amount of time visiting other lodges and fulfilling his never-ending quest for knowledge as it pertained to Freemasonry.
He is survived by his brother, Paul (wife, April), his brother-in-law Ali as well as his niece and nephews, Molly, Logan, Carson and Kaya. John spent the last six years of his life living with Jason Johnson (wife, DaLene) where he was considered part of their family.
John was proceeded in death by his parents Donald and Jean O'Keefe, and his sister Gail Yagci.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Hiram Lodge Monticello 235 N. Olive Street, Monticello, Florida 32344. Memorial contributions may be made to Masters and Wardens 6th Masonic District c/o Jackson Masonic Lodge 2818 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, Florida
