John F. O'Neil passed away on the morning of December 7th, 2022 in the Bronx.

He is survived by his wife, Janitzia, his son Eric and his fiancée Jamie, his daughter Carla and her husband James, and his granddaughters Sarah and Leila.

He is predeceased by his sister Mary and her husband Bill. John is survived by his sisters Lucy and Chris, and his brother Charlie and his wife Sharon, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews.

John was very fortunate in gaining a much larger family when he and Janitzia married fifty-one years ago, becoming an honorary Honduran and is survived by an extended family who loved him very much.

Born in Brooklyn on November 15, 1944 to Charles and Evelyn O'Neil, he attended Holy Cross Elementary school, St. Augustine High School and graduated from Brooklyn College.

John worked as a public servant with the New York City Social Services Department and the NYC Sanitation Department Recycling Division from which he retired and where he made lifelong friendships.

John volunteered as a coach with Mosholu Montefiore Community Center for many years, first coaching both his son and daughter then continuing to coach dozens of other girls in softball. He was a dedicated golfer, baseball fan, an avid reader, and was a faithful Jeopardy viewer every weekday at 7pm.

Family will receive friends Sunday, December 18th from 2–5 pm, at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY 10471
