John R. “Bob” Olenick, 91, of Manheim, and formerly of Beltsville, MD, and Akron, OH; beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died peacefully at home on Monday, February 2, 2026. Born in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late John G. and Mary E. Polovick Olenick. Bob was the loving husband of Kay Finzer Olenick and they observed their 67th wedding anniversary in November of last year. Bob was a Senior Security Officer for the National Security Agency, an upon retirement was a member of the Phoenix Society. A veteran, Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bob was an active member of the First Catholic Slovak Union. He enjoyed model trains and computers.
Surviving in addition to his wife Kay, are two sons: Thomas L. Olenick of Manheim, Richard Olenick of Havelock, NC, two granddaughters: Krystal and Olivia Olenick, and two brothers: Joe husband of Linda Olenick of Mogadore, OH, and Mike husband of Jeanne Olenick of North Canton, OH. Preceding him in death is a son, John R. “Bobby” Olenick, a daughter-in-law, Catherine Garger, a granddaughter, Jennifer Olenick, and a brother, Don Olenick.
Services for Bob will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
