John Ernest Ontieveros, Castroville native, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather, passed away surrounded by his family on Sept. 19, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service that will forever be remembered. John is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Josie, and their three children: Tania Ramos, and her husband Pete (children John, Isaiah, Katalyna, Madeline, and Jacob); Giovanni Ontieveros Sr., and his wife Teresa (children Gianna and Giovanni Jr.); and Ché Ontieveros, and his wife Rebecca (children Sadie and Mariana). He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Ernesto and Aryanna, who brought him endless joy. A proud veteran, John honorably served his country in the United States Army. Beyond his military service, he was deeply committed to his community and family. John never missed a chance to coach his children and grandchildren, instilling in them teamwork, perseverance, and heart. He also served as PTA president, showing his dedication to education and youth development. Those who knew John will remember him as hardworking, compassionate, and steadfast in his faith and family values. His life was defined by the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the example he set for generations to follow. John Ernest Ontieveros will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of his family and friends.
