I was looking at the WIHS 1975 Facebook page and saw JD has passed away. I haven't kept in touch with JD over the years, but I remember him all the way back to Westbrook Elementary, Udall Rd and WIHS. We were always in the same homeroom together as my maiden name began with an "O" and he was "P".
I remember him from a junior high English class wearing a superman cape and playing the tv show theme song on a tape recorder for a project with Mr.Farley(teacher). He was a funny kid!
I am truly saddened to learn of his passing. My condolences to his Family and Friends.

I had gotten to know John over the last few years being his mailman. He was always ready to talk and tell a story about so many different things. I was shocked to hear of his passing and offer my condolences to his family.

I am very saddened and in still in shock. While we knew of each other from the library fields to Malts Ave, we became friends over our later years over many things we had in common . I miss your cheery things you would send me and our discussions. I just thought the day before I heard of his passing, I haven't talked to him for a few weeks , I have to check up on him... Wish I trusted my instincts. J.D you were much loved and a friend to all. I will miss you, as will so many of the lives you touched.

My name is Kevin O'Brien aka Elmo. I was a close childhood friend of JD as he was commonly known through most of our scholastic years and for quite a few years afterward. Became involved with the music industry which required traveling and lost touch for many years.
Moved back to West Islip to care for my parents and reignited our friendship but by then our best years were behind us. I will never forget our adolescent adventures and numerous misadventures which are well remembered and numerous. I hope and pray for his soul and eternal peace in his final resting place
Thoughts and prayers to Bruce, Jan, Uncle Dennis and Bob and numerous nieces and nephews in this difficult time.
