John Parmigiani Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hanley Funeral Home, Inc. - Staten Island on Nov. 13, 2024.
John Parmigiani, age 79, of Staten Island, New York, passed away on November 10, 2024.
John was born on February 14, 1945 to Joseph and Rose Parmigiani, and brother, George, in Staten Island. After John graduated from New Dorp High School in 1963, he became an Ornamental Iron Worker for Local 580. Years later, John worked as a Cement and Concrete Foreman for Local 20.
John's ultimate dream was fulfilled when he opened his own motorcycle repair and accessories shop in 1968, named Chopper Stop on New Dorp Lane. During the same time, he created Team Staten Island, a motorcycle road racing team competing in AAMRR. All throughout the 1960s, he drag raced his 1955 Chevy Jr. Stocker and held national records.
In 1973, John met RoLinda Esposito through friends and had their first date in Coney Island. They bonded over their shared interest in cars. John and RoLinda married on October 20, 1979, made their home in Oakwood, and went on to have three children, John Joseph, James, and Andrew.
In 1994, John retired from Local 20 and spent his time enjoying his family, friends who were like family, and his passion for cars. He founded and administrated the Monsignor Farrell Car Show for over 20 years. He participated in countless other car shows, the Hot Rod Power Tour, and attended NASCAR events in Daytona Beach, FL and Charlotte, NC. He recently finished building his award winning dream car, a bing cherry red 1955 Chevy 210.
John was the proud grandfather of four, Julia, Jake, Jackson, and Luke, and loved his dog, Holley, who he "didn't want," but couldn't be separated from.
John is survived by his wife, sons, grandchildren, and daughters in law, Courtney, Nicole, and Breanna.
Services will be held at Hanley Funeral Home on Thursday, November 14 and Friday, November 15 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, and the funeral will take place on Saturday, November 16 at St. Christopher Church at 10:30am with luncheon to follow.
