John Pater Obituary

CHARLESTOWN - John Charles Pater Jr. passed away on February 7, 2026. He was a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy and served twenty years in service to our country. After retiring from the Navy, he worked 20 years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.

John and Brenda (Melbourne) Pater were married for thirty-eight years. John reared five children, Cynthia Marie Pater-Chasey (David), Daniel John Pater (Dawn), Christopher John Pater (Morgan), and Michael Charles Pater (Julia). He was pre-deceased by his son Steven James Pater. John has seven beautiful grandchildren.

John's service will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Alton, RI on Sunday, February 22nd at 1:00PM. There will be a burial service at the Veteran's Cemetery in Exeter, RI on Monday February 23rd at 10:00AM.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 33, Wood River Junction, RI, 02894-0033.
