John-Paul Douglas Grooms, 52, of Waverly, Ohio, passed 5:50 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Piketon Nursing Center, Piketon, Ohio.

John-Paul was born June 29, 1973, in Chillicothe, Ohio, the son of the Charles James Grooms and Debra Louise (Watters) Grooms, who survive.

He is also survived by a son, Gunner James Grooms; two brothers, Steven (Jody Ward) Cebula and Noah Cooper; four sisters, Carla (Tim) Cutlip, Sarah Katie (Daniel) Hood, Jamie (Heith) Leeth, and Natalie Cooper; special nephews, Heath and Tucker Justice; special nieces, Alivia and Lillian Hood; as well as several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold and June Watters; paternal grandparents, Paul Grooms and Margaret Crabtree; nephew, Bryan Justice; cousin, Darren Lightle; godparents, Tim and Karen Treherne.

John-Paul was an amazing artist and a Freemason, Grand Lodge of F&A.M. of Ohio, Highland Lodge #38.

Funeral Services will be held 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, Ohio with Aric Grooms officiating. A private burial will be at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until the beginning of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family would like the thank the staff at Piketon Nursing Center and Buckeye Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Aladdin Shrine.
