John N. Pavick

1929 - 2024

John N. Pavick, 94, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at Independence Health System Frick Hospital. John was born Dec. 9, 1929, in Hecla, to the late John and Mary Varholla Pavick Sr. John went to the service in August 1951 and was a United States Army Paratrooper Airborne II during the Korean War. While in the service, he met a girl named Margot and they got married. They lived for eight years in Turkey while he worked as a contractor for the United States Air Force. Then they moved to California and John retired from Levitz Furniture after 26 years. John is survived by his loving family; his sister-in-law, Barbara Pavick; his niece; six nephews; and his special caregiver, Mitzie Kimmel. John was preceded in death by his father in 1947; his mother in 1995; his wife, Margot Habarich Pavick; his sisters, Margaret Goughan and Elizabeth Varasko; and by his brother, Michael Pavick. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME INC., 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A Panachida will be held at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, 525 Porter Ave., Scottdale, with the Rev. Oleh Seremchuk, celebrant. Interment with military honors accorded by American Legion Post 446, of Mt. Pleasant, will take place at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Trauger.
