John Pawlyk, 95 of Chicago. Beloved husband of Oksana for 67 years. Loving father of the late George (Halyna) Pawlyk, Marie (Ted) Albrecht and Mark (Elizabeth) Pawlyk. Dearest grandfather of Oriana (Marcus) Weisgerber, Natalie Abbott, Daniel (Talin) Pawlyk, Nick Abbott, Victoria Pawlyk, Christina Pawlyk, Ashley (Pete) Albrecht Nash, and Brianna Albrecht. Great-grandfather to Kalyna Weisgerber. Also survived by a niece and her family in Ukraine.
John was a proud American Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was also a life-long member of the Ukrainian American Youth Association. John took great pride in service on the Board of Directors at Self Reliance Federal Credit Union. He diligently attended every meeting up until winter of 2023. John was a graduate of IIT through the GI Bill and worked in the Industrial Electrical Industry.
John will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 4-8 PM with a Panachyda at 7 PM at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake, Addison (2 Mi. W. of Rt. 83, 2 Mi. E. of Rt. 53). Funeral Service Thursday, August 22, 2024, 10:30 AM at St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Bloomingdale. Interment St. Andrew Ukrainian Cemetery.
