John Perlow Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Molden Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service on Oct. 1, 2025.
John Perlow of Bristol, Pa. passed away on June 23, 2024. Born April 1, 1959 in Manhattan NYC, John grew up in Elberon, NJ. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood at the Jersey Shore where he met his dearest and lifelong friends, going to the beach, playing baseball and basketball. He attended numerous sporting events with his father, who was close friends with Walt Frazier and gave Johnny his first job as a ballboy for the NY Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
John graduated from Long Branch High in 1977 and attended Boston University for two years.
He then embarked on a three year journey, traveling the world. During this time he met his "Dutch Girl" Anke. They married and had three beautiful daughters residing in West Long Branch, NJ.
John began his 32 year career at Monmouth Park as a racing official and rose to the position of Assistant Racing Secretary. He also worked at numerous other racetracks and concluded his career at Parx Racing in Pa.
His passion for music was boundless, including his hero stalwarts Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, Bob Dylan and local musician Pat Guadagno.
John was an avid reader, writer and poet. He also enjoyed the arts and theater. Always an adventurous soul, he relished meeting people of all walks of life and possessed a comedic spirit and keen wit, while striving to put a smile on everyone's face.
Bringing great comfort and peace of mind to John were his Sunday visits to Pastor Harold Jackson's sermons at Delivering The Word Ministry in Trenton, NJ.
He was predeceased by his cherished parents, Hy and Marie Perlow. He is survived by his beloved children, Mariel Collins, Tessa Perlow and Carlyn Perlow. His grandchildren Henry
and Lily Collins, his former wife, Anke DeJong. His sister Elizabeth Rhamstine and her husband Steve Rhamstine. Brother Alan Kent, sister Donnie Kent Ceaser. His first cousins Tracy and Todd McNamara, many more dear cousins and treasured friends, old and new.
Peaceful rest, our dear "Johnny Boy."
