John R. Petitto, age 57, of Rehoboth formerly of Fall River and Easton, passed away at his home in Rehoboth on November 30, 2024. He was the longtime partner of Tracey Glynn of Rehoboth.
Born in Cambridge, a son of Nancy E. (Giarratana) Smith of Holbrook and the late Frank J. Petitto.
John was raised in Holbrook and was a graduate of Holbrook High School and continued his education at Massasoit Community College.
John began his working career at Keene State College in the campus police division. After, he took a position with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections Norfolk County as a corrections officer.
After retiring from the Commonwealth, he took a position as a custodian with the US Postal Service in North Easton and was also employed with the Town of Randolph, Randolph High School working event security.
John was an avid golfer, who enjoyed playing hockey and was an avid Boston sports fan.
In addition to his longtime partner Tracey, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen Petitto of Rehoboth; two step-children, Kathryn Favali and Charlie Favali both of Rehoboth; 2 brothers, Richard Petitto of Ormand Beach, FL., and Michael Petitto of Holbrook; a nephew, Tyler Giarratana of North Carolina and a niece Sadie Giarratana of Virginia and his beloved Muffin. He was predeceased by a son, Robert "Bobby" Petitto in 2005.
Visiting hours will be held in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton on Thursday, December 5th from 4:00 to & 7:00 p.m. with a funeral service starting at 7:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be held at a later date.
