John Phillips Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
John Russell Phillips III, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Delta Township, Michigan, on September 30, 2025. He was born on June 26, 1967, in Saginaw, Michigan, son of John Jr. and Susan Phillips.

John was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School's class of 1985, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a passion for helping others. He carried this passion into his studies at Michigan State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in social work. John's innate kindness and empathy shone brightly in his professional life as he served with a warm smile as a cashier at Meijer, where customers often became friends.

Outside of work, John's passions were deeply rooted in the world of music. He relished the experience of live concerts, where he felt most alive surrounded by the rhythms and melodies that he loved.

He is survived by his father, John Phillips Jr.; his brother, Todd (Melissa) Phillips; his niece, Savannah Phillips; his aunts Trudy (Bob) Sanocki and Margo Phillips; his cousins Aiden and Ian Phillips, Jenny Seconsky, and Michael Sanocki; close friend Michael Wetmore; as well as many extended family members who will miss his presence dearly. John was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Phillips, his nephew, Dakota Phillips, and Uncle Michael Phillips. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be no service at this time. For online condolences please visit www.millsfuneral.com
