John Philpot

John "Johnboy" Philpot, age 58, of London, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. Born September 5, 1967, in Riverside, California, John was the son of Elmer Philpot and the late Margie Gene Hoover Philpot. A small business owner by trade, John was known for his strong work ethic, independence, and resourcefulness. He was a man of Christian faith and lived his life guided by simple values of honesty, perseverance, and helping others when he could.

John had a lifelong love of mechanics and could often be found in his shop, tinkering with small engines, appliances, and anything else that needed fixing. He enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in solving problems and bringing things back to life. Additionally, John enjoyed music and playing his guitar. Above all, John cherished his family and took special joy in his grandchildren, who were a great source of pride and happiness in his life. John was a kid at heart, always a practical joke, sharing a laugh or telling a joke to lighten the day. John had even recorded a full video cassette tape of him playing every part in a commercial.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Duncan, and his sister, Dawn Haught. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Bowes; his father, Elmer Philpot and wife Bessie of Pottsville; his siblings, Rodney Bridgeman, Janet Beavers and husband Gene, Randi Philpot, and Christy Parker; and five grandsons, along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
