John Paul Pillar, 50, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025. He was born on October 9, 1975, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Harwood Pillar and Elsa G. (Moehling) Pillar.

John graduated from Hastings High School and Lake Superior University in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. He worked at various places throughout the years but found his calling as a Postal Clerk for the post office in Union City, MI. John married the love of his life, Jessica Wells on July 5, 2008 in Battle Creek and the two shared many wonderful years together.

John is survived by his wife of 22 years, Jessica Wells-Pillar; mother, Elsa Pillar; sons, Jonathan Wells, Jeremiah Wells, Jeremy Wells-Pillar; cousin who was considered a brother, Kevin Williams; and a host of many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harwood Pillar.

John was a very talented woodworker who loved to make things for his family and a gun enthusiast that loved to go to the shooting range with his sons. He enjoyed Sci-Fi movies, video games, everything computers and listening to music especially rap and rock. John was a lover of spicy foods, hot sauces, and could never have enough cheese. He was a simple man and took every bit of life with love and overwhelming happiness. Above everything else however, John's love for his family was truly amazing and being with them is what made him the happiest. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 1:00 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan, 2500 Watkins Road, Battle Creek, MI 49015.
