John Piwowar Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Adolf and Powell Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Berwyn on Mar. 15, 2026.
It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of John Piwowar, who died peacefully at his home on March 13, 2026, at the age of 91. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Katherine Piwowar; his children, Christine (Joe) Alagna, Elizabeth (Rick) Nieman, Barb (David) Cambalik, and Grace Crane; seven grandchildren, Johnny (Cassie) Alagna, Anthony (Stephanie) Alagna, Nicole (Nick) Conteduca, Elizabeth (Marc) Besteman, Matthew (Jenna) Nieman, Amanda (Quinn) Myers, and Bobby (Katie) Cambalik; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was also survived by his beloved sister-in-law Mary (Joe) Dygdon, with whom he shared a special bond, and her children, George, Mark, and Angie.

John was born in Poland in 1934. With only an eighth-grade education but a strong work ethic and determination, he built a life defined by perseverance, love, and devotion to family.

He immigrated to the United States with his wife and four daughters in search of better opportunities. With the help of a family member, Joe Korbecki, John found his first job and began learning English, mastering enough to navigate daily life. Under Joe's guidance, he also learned many trades and became incredibly handy, able to fix almost anything himself. His resourcefulness and willingness to work hard helped him provide a stable and loving home to raise his family.

After retiring at age 65, John enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He especially loved gardening and planting a large garden at his daughter Grace's house, generously sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand.

John and his wife proudly hosted traditional Polish holiday celebrations for many years, keeping their heritage alive and creating cherished memories. He was also a proud member of Polish club called Zwiazek Club Polski, where he formed many lifelong friendships.

Above all, John loved spending time with his, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He spoke of them often and with great pride - they were his greatest joy.

John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of hard work, generosity, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
