John R. Powers, 84, of Gloversville, New York passed away January 25, 2026. He was born on February 7, 1941 in Gloversville, New York to Earl and Ada (Sutton) Powers.

John was a meat cutter for Meat Land in Broadalbin, NY for 41 years. He loved his job and his regular customers. John was an animal lover. He even had a chipmunk that would visit in his yard and eat from his hand. He was an avid fisherman for most of his early life, and loved being outdoors. He also enjoyed trips to the casino.

John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pam; one son John (Loida); and one grandson Ethan. He is also survived by his siblings Laura Prew, Bob Powers, Nancy, Kathy Pearson, and Evelyn Blood, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Earl Powers, Genevieve Sparks, Patricia and Elaine Powers, and Betty Ann Robb.

The family has chosen to remember John's life privately at this time, and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's or the ASPCA.

Pam, we are so saddened by the loss of your husband, John. He was a great guy who could make anyone laugh! He will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.

So sorry to hear of John's passing. We had a lot of fun back in the day. Hope all is well with you. My health is not to good, have congested heart failure. My son Aaron has moved in with me and that helps a lot.
