John Mills Pratt, Jr., a lifelong area resident, entered into rest, Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Elant at Wappingers Falls. He was 81.
Son of the late John Mills Pratt, Sr. and Ruth Haight Pratt, he was born December 31, 1925 in Poughkeepsie.
John proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps. He married the former Sally Marie Secor on April 25, 1948 in Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Pratt preceded him in death on June 4, 1975.
Prior to his retirement, he was a Senior Cost Engineer at IBM, Poughkeepsie. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Valley where he was a former deacon.
He is survived by his two daughters, Susan Maria Pratt-Heaney of Weston, Connecticut and Sarah Jane Driscoll of Poughkeepsie; his three sons, Stephen J. Pratt of Wappingers Falls, John Mills Pratt, III of Poughkeepsie and Joseph Nelson Pratt of Saratoga Springs, New York; his two sisters, Diane McCauley of Poughkeepsie and Doris Bacon of Poughkeepsie; his brother, Gerald Pratt of Florida; his grandchildren, Courtney, Morgan, Remy, Adam, Taylor, Arlei, Myles, Benjamin, Hannah, Judson, Samantha, Joshua, Vivian and Julia; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Juliana and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive their friends on Saturday, December 22, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Amenia Island Cemetery, Amenia in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Elant at Wappingers Falls, 37 Mesier Avenue, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
