It is with profound grief and an abundance of love in our hearts that we say goodbye to John Leslie Ragins Jr., 61 of Lexington, Oklahoma, who went to join his Lord and Savior in Heaven on October 28, 2024. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 3, 1963, John was the son of John L. Ragins and Joyce Anell (Stringham) Farber. He is preceded in death by his father, John Ragins, and his stepfather, Clarence Farber.
Left to hold his memory dear are his wife of 39 years, Vicki Ragins, and their son, Patrick Ragins of Madison, WI, his mother, Joyce Farber of Anthony, FL, and siblings Judi Minor of Joplin, MO, David Ragins and wife Jen of Ocala, FL, Roxanne Nelson and husband Tommy of Anthony, FL, and Janie Harrington and husband Sean of Apopka, FL, as well as his mother-in-law Carol Bullard of Lexington, OK, sister-in-law Linda Shallenburger and husband Mark of Riverton, KS, brother-in-law Duane Bullard and wife Hona of Joplin, MO, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
John was a proud 9-year Veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from the United States postal service. Most recently, he enjoyed working at the Postal Training Center in Norman. From the time he was a young man, John's faith was a vital part of his heart and soul. He was blessed to be the Assistant Pastor at Northgate Baptist Church for over ten years. He was also the Pastor for the residents at Medical Park West nursing home, where he was highly respected and adored. John explored a wide variety of hobbies and passions throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing and never missed watching a game of his favorite team, the Michigan Wolverines. He was also very fond of his 3 donkeys and the family dog, KoKo. Though there weren't a lot of things he complained about, John did take issue with Mexican food, and coffee, both of which he wouldn't hesitate to let anyone know about.
Though there were numerous things in life that did make John happy, nothing brought him more pride and joy than his beloved family. Quality time with the people he loved was of utmost importance. He had particularly fond memories of camping trips with his wife, and hiking with his son. As we say goodbye to John Leslie Ragins Jr., let us honor his memory by carrying on his legacy of love and devotion. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Always enjoyed bowling with John on the Postal league at Sooner Bowling Center in Norman. He was a wonderful guy and former co-worker and will be greatly missed. May God bless and keep you and your family.
