It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Kenneth “Ken” Raney Sr., who departed this life on September 27, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on October 29, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland, Ken was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him.

Ken dedicated five years of his life to the United States Navy, serving honorably aboard the USS Forrestal and the USS Wasp, where he completed two tours during the Vietnam War. His commitment to duty and service shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of pride for his country.

Ken was the son of the late John Henry Raney and Doris Louise Miles. After his military service, he became a respected Transportation Manager in the private sector, where he demonstrated the same diligence and dedication he showed throughout his life. He had a penchant for storytelling, often reminiscing about his journeys, both on the road and in life.

Ken was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bridget, and his brothers, Donald Lee and Rick Lee. He is survived by his steadfast brother, Robert Zittle, and sister, Bonnie Hott, along with a loving family that includes his five children, son John Kenneth Raney Jr. (wife Cheryl Raney), daughter Catherine Raney, daughter Pamela Rasnake (husband Early Rasnake), son Jon Dwayne Raney (wife Jeanette Raney) and daughter Jody Lynn Johnson.

Ken's legacy continues through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will cherish the memories and lessons he imparted. John's children: John Kenneth Raney III and his wife Amanda, as well as their twin children, John K. Raney IV and Riley Jade Raney; Sean Paul Raney and daughter Faith Raney; Daniel Christopher Raney, and his wife Amanda, along with their children Caiden Daniel Raney, Wyatt Christopher Raney, and Rowan William Raney; and Laurene Caitlin Raney with her children Skylar Lee Short and RayLynn Ada Raney.

Pamela’s family includes her daughter Ashley and her children Chelsea and Rayden.

Jon’s four daughters: Jade, Jessica, Jorja, and Juliana.

Jody’s family includes her children, Austin, late Mason, Chase, Destiny and Kayden.

Ken will be remembered for his compassion, his unwavering love for family, and his joyful spirit. His life was a testament to resilience and deep connections with loved ones, inspiring all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
