I was very sorry to hear about John, and I wanted to express my sympathy to his sons and to the rest of his family.
I worked with John frequently while he was with the Corps and always found that on top of being a very competent and effective member of the Corps, he was also one of the most enjoyable and funny people that I got to know there. I will always recall John with very positive and pleasant memories.

It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of one of our own, John Rathburn. Over his career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, he provided great service to his community and the nation, starting as a Dam Tender and later completing his career as the Project Manager of the Edward MacDowell Lake Flood Control Project in Peterborough.
Although he had retired before my arrival in the area, I had run in to him on a number of occasions while visiting Edward MacDowell Lake and at Basin functions. It was always enjoyable to catch up with him, learning of the history of the project and the changes that continue.
On behalf of the New England District of the Corps of Engineers, I offer our deepest condolences to John’s family.
