John C. "Jack" Redman

John C. "Jack" Redman, 83, of Middlesex Township, passed away on Sept. 3, 2021.
He was the devoted son of Joseph C. and Lillian Zimmerman Redman; beloved husband for 56 years to Carol Mrozinski Redman; loving father of Timothy (Debra) Redman and Daniel (Christy) Redman; proud grandfather of Connor, Braden, Gwen and Wesley; the dear brother of Sandra Nowak, Ruth Ritenbaugh and Jay Redman; and was a loving uncle and great-uncle.
Jack loved growing up on Nobles Hill in Shaler, where his grandparents lived next door.
At a young age, he knew he wanted to fly airplanes and, by the age of 16, he received his private pilot's license, flying out of Culmerville Airport, where he and two partners owned a J-3 Cub airplane. He went on to become a charter pilot and flight instructor at Butler Graham Airport, and had a short stint as a corporate pilot for Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven, Pa.
After his time in central Pennsylvania, he returned to the Pittsburgh area, and resumed his role as a charter pilot and flight instructor at Butler Graham, and eventually took on a greater role and became manager of the airport. After 10 years of managing the airport, he got a job with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as an aviation specialist, and was responsible for licensing airports and heliports in the entire southwest Pennsylvania area. He held this position with the state for 21 years, until he retired.
He had a passion for fly fishing and made all of his rods and fly fishing lures by hand. He was also an avid gardener, which he learned from his grandpap Zimmerman.
He will be greatly missed by his family, whom he dedicated his life to taking care of.
REDMAN - Family and friends of John C. "Jack" Redman, who died Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at Bock Funeral Home, 1500 Mount Royal Blvd., Glenshaw.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bakerstown Methodist Church, 5760 William Flynn Hwy., Gibsonia.
