Mr. John Franklin Register, age 84, passed away peacefully February 11, 2026 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was born on May 26, 1941, in Bladen County, North Carolina.
John was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent his career as an industrial line worker with Burlington Mills. He was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and genuine love for people. In his free time, he especially enjoyed fishing, a pastime that brought him great peace and happiness.
He attended Zion Hill Baptist Church and was a member of Love Grove Baptist Church.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Register; his parents, Walter Otis Register and Annie Mae Register; his daughter, Debra Register Hill; his brothers, Walter Register and Charles Register; and his sisters, Shirley Edge and Merle Owens.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, John Michael Register (Nicole) of St. Pauls; his sisters, Linda Monroe of Tar Heel and Jean Register McLaughlin of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Johnathan, Katelyn, Emily, Mandy, Hanna, Cody, and Travis; as well as six great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McNeill-Legacy Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
John will be remembered for his warmth, his laughter, and the love he shared so freely with those around him.
