John Joseph Richardson

LITCHFIELD - John Joseph Richardson, 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 10, 2026.

Born in Torrington, Conn., on April 17, 1958, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Elizabeth (Barry) Richardson.

In his younger years, John enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley Davidson, and Antique Tractor pulls with his Farmall tractor. He was a former member of Litchfield Volunteer Fire Department where he was very active in the 1980s. John was an NHRA enthusiast and former racer. He was an avid fan and supporter of UCONN men's and women's basketball. John was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed tinkering with cars, trucks and tractors. Before retiring, he owned and operated his own lawn service business for many years.

John is survived by his sisters; Lynn Richardson and Kathy Foster and her husband, Stuart; his niece, Samantha Foster LaPierre, her husband, Scott and their children: Riley, Jaxson, Lincoln; his nephew Harkin Foster and his partner, Erica Norton and his niece Mackenzie Foster. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his great-nephew, Samantha's son, Declyn.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 17, at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
