Worcester-John J. “The Barber” Rickheit, 51, passed away Wednesday, March 19 in UMASS Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of three years, Laura A. (Matheson) Kenneway; his father, Peter Rickheit and his wife, Meredith of Lakeland, FL; a step-daughter, Kimberly Banville of Berwick, Maine; a nephew, Shawn Rickheit of Lunenberg; a cousin, Sue Charpentier and her husband Allen of Leominster and their children, Rebecca Charpentier of Westford and Thomas Charpentier and his wife, Lucy Dinh-Charpentier of Boston. A brother, Jeffrey E. Rickheit predeceased him. He was born in Fitchburg, son of the late, Paula (Regan) Rickheit. He earned his GED and then graduated from the Rob Roy Academy in Worcester,
John was a barber for 30 years at Jim and John’s Barber Shop on Stafford Street.
John was a member of the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council #88 and its golf league. He enjoyed summer days at Mohawk Park Campground in Charlemont relaxing in the river and summer nights as well, around a giant campfire. He also loved golfing with his friends and watching the Pittsburg Steelers.
John made friends where ever he went and will truly be missed by so many.
Visiting Hours are Sunday, April 13 from 11am to 1pm with a Prayer Service at 12:30pm in Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council #88, PO Box 20404, Worcester, MA 01602.
